Description
This is a very nice example of the silver James Bond Aston Martin, an early edition with Type A wheels (that appear filled in rather than more see-through) and with a silver grille and bumpers so a Type 1 – an early one from nearer the start of its run.
It is in really very good condition with original paintwork and all features operate as they should. The roof also lies flat – not slightly raised as seems to be the case with so many of these models. It is totally original and not restored like many are nowadays. The paint finish is excellent with one or two very minor touch-ins and the silver chrome is very good.
The windows are clear and have no cracks or scratches. The rotating number plates have all come off but I will supply a fresh set. The red plastic tyre slashers look crisp and clean and pull out smoothly and the tyres are the correct ‘branded’ type and are all very fresh and clean.
The front grille and bumper is all original. There is one original baddie included.
All in all this really does look lovely on display. Highly recommended if you need this for your collection. This edition is actually quite rare.
These Bond Aston Martins are complicated. Be careful to check what you’re buying. Many are now being restored too. There are five main types that can be fairly easily identified:
Type 1: Early 1968 – mid 1969Tyre slashers, silver bumpers, base has a circular section at the rear, grey base.Type 2: mid 1969 – end 1975as before but with gold bumpers.Type 3: 1976as Type 2 but with an oval shape on the baseType 4: early 1977 onlyWhizzwheels, grey baseType 5: early 1977 – early 1978Whizzwheels, silver base.
