A lovely version of the Corgi model by Auto Pilen.
This is the metallic-olive green edition and is in excellent condition with no faults that I can detect. The screens are clear and clean and are the type without engraved windscreen wipers. The black interior is very clean. The opening doors operate very nicely. The rear engine cover opens to reveal a delightfully detailed and chromed engine.
I have to say that I have always regarded the orange original as one of Corgi’s worst models but this, whilst very very similar, seems so much nicer. Indeed, it also has an added feature which I have only now discovered as I look at it more closely – the headlamp covers lift to reveal lovely double jewels in a delightfully smooth action.
These models were made with a base that has screws so repairs and replacement of some elements can be achieved much more simply than with the rivetted Corgis. However, I believe this is entirely original.
