Description
These Mechanical models are quite scarce now, especially with a working friction motor. The Vauxhall Velox was nearly always red and was available between 1956 and 1959 when it was discontinued. A few got orange paint and these are very scarce.
This example has quite a few chips on the paintwork and the photos may make them look worse than they really are. On display in front of me here, it actually looks pretty good! The wheel are nice and shiny and tyres are all good. The windows, often messy on these models as they’re not easy to clean, are fine, nice and clear and without scratches.
A nice model. The base is black with the oil hole and text style as shown. There are two types of this. The motor works and this example is also one with the silver detailing missing on the bonnet. From what I can tell all the orange models have this missing. It can be difficult to distinguish between red and orange in some photos as the lighting or software used to process the images can have a confusing effect. I have, therefore, included a photo of this one next to a normal 203M for your reference. When buying these elsewhere I would advise you ask for some sort of comparison too, even setting the model against something red if another Vauxhall isn’t available.
